ORIGINAL PRE WORLD WAR ONE U.S. M-1905 LEATHER COVERED BAYONET SCABBARD. This scabbard was manufactured by Rock Island Arsenal in 1909 and is so marked "R.I.A. 1909" on the reverse. It was modified by the government by removing the Krag type hanger and replacing it with the M-1910 wire hanger. There are areas of missing leather on the scabbard throat/hanger - on the front and both sides - see close up photos. The reverse of the hanger & the rest of the leather covering the scabbard body, along with the stitching, is undamaged, tight & intact. See multiple photos of all sides for the best idea of the condition.
