Vintage New Hyde Park, New York Fire Department Captain badge from Estates Engine Company No. 3. This is an impressive mid-century fire-service badge featuring a large eagle at the top, detailed wreath border, black enamel lettering, crossed fire trumpets and a blue-and-white “EX” center emblem. The badge reads “CAPTAIN / ESTATES ENG. CO. NO. 3 / NEW HYDE PARK / F.D.”
Estates Engine Company No. 3 is a historic component of the New Hyde Park Fire Department on Long Island, New York. The company was organized in the Lakeville Estates area and officially chartered in December 1941.
Based on its construction and style, this badge is believed to date approximately from the 1950s–1970s. No maker or precious-metal markings were found. The badge is nonmagnetic, but because it is not marked sterling or silver, the exact metal composition is unknown and no precious-metal content is being represented.
Features a traditional vertical pin and catch on the reverse. Pin hardware remains intact. Includes the black leather badge wallet/holder shown.
Very attractive original-looking vintage condition with age-appropriate surface wear, light discoloration/patina and wear to the finish. The enamel lettering and blue “EX” center remain especially attractive. Please examine the close-up photographs for condition and details.
