Strand of Mauritanian heishi shell beads crafted from natural shell and formed into the traditional flat, disk-shaped heishi style. The beads display soft natural tones with subtle variations in color, thickness, and texture, reflecting their handcrafted nature and the organic qualities of the shell material.
Shell beads have been used for centuries throughout West Africa as personal adornment and as components of trade and ceremonial jewelry. Their lightweight construction and understated appearance make them versatile elements for necklaces, bracelets, and other decorative creations. The closely stacked heishi form creates an attractive, continuous strand with a distinctive rhythmic pattern.
This strand is not intended to be a ready-to-wear necklace. Although the strand can be worn \"as is,\" the raffia holding it together is not durable and may break with use. For this reason, we recommend that you restring the beads before wearing them.
