This bowl/cup is a classic example of Chinese Kraakporcelain, specifically a type
commonly referred to by collectors and antiquespecialists as a "crowcup" or "crow cup"
(derived from theDutch term kraaikop).
The "Crow" Nomenclature:
The designation crowcup stems from the traditionaldecoration inside the very bottom (the well) of the bowl, which almostinvariably depicts a stylized bird perched on an ornamental river rock.
Early Dutch merchants interpreted this bird as resembling acrow.
3.5 inches tall.
Age unknown.
