Vintage M1907-style leather rifle sling, recently removed from an M1 Garand.
Traditional two-piece brown leather construction with dual rows of adjustment holes, leather keepers and blackened metal double-hook adjustment fittings.
The sling shows normal age and use but remains in very nice overall condition. Leather has attractive aged color and patina with scattered handling marks, impressions and discoloration. Stitching and leather keepers appear intact. Metal hardware shows normal age-related finish wear.
There is a black ink stamp “3 81” marking on the inside of the leather as shown in the photographs. I do not know the significance of this marking.
I have not found a visible maker, arsenal or military acceptance marking, so I am not representing this sling as original USGI or WWII production. It is being sold simply as a vintage M1907-style sling that was removed from an M1 Garand.
