Rare antique hinged metal tin from the legendary Jacob’s Candy Company of New Orleans, Louisiana. The lid features the bold script “Jacob’s” logo with “New Orleans” in block lettering, surrounded by decorative ribbon bow motifs. The sides display a repeating fleur-de-lis embossed border at the lid join and a delicate floral garland printed on the body. Gold crackle lithography throughout. Interior is bare metal with light oxidation and minor surface rust. No holes. Lid closes securely on original hinge. Measures approximately 8.5” L × 5.5” W × 4” H.
Jacobs Candy Co. operated at 827 Carondelet Street in New Orleans from 1903 to 1967, famous for their “Made Last Night” slogan and their beautifully packaged chocolates. A genuine piece of New Orleans confectionery history.
