Reasonable offers are welcome; however, I kindly ask that the original acquisition price and the quality of the craftsmanship be taken into consideration when making an hand-painted icon of the Holy Archangel Michael, received directly from St. Elisabeth Convent in Minsk, Belarus.
The icon was painted by Sister Sophia, a laywoman associated with the convent, using egg tempera and acrylic. The background is finished with genuine 24-karat gold leaf, giving the icon its rich, luminous gold surface. Individually mounted semi-precious stones further ornament the composition.
The icon is housed in an impressive hand-carved wooden kiot, crafted by the brothers of St. Elisabeth Convent. Traditionally used to protect and honor sacred icons, the kiot forms an important part of the piece itself. Its glass-front door is hinged and fitted with a decorative metal clasp, allowing the icon to be displayed either enclosed behind glass or with the door opened for a direct, unobstructed view.
The reverse of the kiot bears the stamp of St. Elisabeth Convent, as shown in the photographs.
