A collection of three Greenlandic Kalaallit Inuit sculptures skillfully carved from caribou antlers ranging from 3-3.25\" tall. Likely date to the 20th century.
The grouping includes a matched pair of grinning tupilaks and an exquisite polar bear. The bear stretches its elongated neck gracefully to the sky, radiating movement, power and presence far beyond its small size.
Tupilaks are carvings of fantastic and often frightening creatures with human and animal characteristics. They originate in traditional GreenlandicKalaallitInuitspiritual practices.
The tupilaks are 3⅛\" and 3¼\" tall, the polar bear 3\".
All three are in excellent vintage condition with no flaws noted.
