This is a vintage Frank Paul Vigil silkscreen print featuring a prancing horse against a dramatic Southwestern sky. Vigil was a well-known Jicarilla Apache (Tiwa) Native American artist active during the mid-20th century, recognized for lively horse studies and Apache cultural themes. The print is signed “Vigil” in the lower right.
The artwork itself measures approximately 12 inches by 11 inches. It is still attached to its original old cardboard backing, held only by the Tewa Enterprises (Tiwa) tape at the bottom, and can easily be removed for proper framing. Being a vintage piece, it shows some marks, creasing, and light surface wear as shown in the photos, but it remains a clean and vibrant example of Vigil’s style and is ready to be reframed.
Frank Paul Vigil (1922–1979) was a self-taught Jicarilla Apache artist from northern New Mexico. His works were exhibited at the Gallup Inter-Tribal Ceremonial, the Philbrook Museum, and various Southwestern galleries. He is especially collected for his motion-filled depictions of horses and ceremonial subjects.
