Historical Note:
Place Bellecour is one of the largest open squares in Europe and has been the heart of Lyon since the 17th century. The equestrian statue at center depicts Louis XIV. The Fourviere hill visible in the background is dominated by the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourviere, completed in 1896. Lyon is France\'s third largest city and a UNESCO World Heritage site for its historic urban planning.
