Cornelius Bradford (w. c1750-1786) is one possible maker of this exceptionally fine, American 9 1/4" flat-brim pewter plate, as his wares are sometimes also found with DS pseudo-hallmarks. It has been also suggested that Bradford may have obtained equipment from some "DS" pewterer in Philadelphia. Flat-brims were considered high-end sadware pewter plates in the eighteenth century, often made of a virtually lead-free alloy often referred to as "hardmetal." (Larger sadware forms were called "dishes."). They're justly highly prized by collectors of early American pewter. Another no-apology piece from Eaglemark Antiques!
