An original 3x2" antique photo (NOT a modern reprint) from the estate of a vintage automobile photo and postcard collector. This was part of a huge collection of antique photos.
Photo Overview
A small original snapshot taken on New Year\'s Day 1912 in Rochester, New York, showing a well-dressed woman in a fur stole and dark hat seated in an early electric automobile parked on a snowy road. The car is a classic pre-World War I electric runabout or victoria, with its tall folding leather top raised behind the driver. The top has small round porthole lights, the steering is by tiller rather than wheel, there is a short false hood up front, carriage-style fenders, wooden artillery wheels, and lamps mounted on the dash. It closely resembles the Baker, Columbus, and Waverley electrics of the 1909-1912 era. A New York license plate with the stacked \'NY\' suffix of the period is mounted on the front, and tire chains are fitted to the rear wheel for the winter roads.
The setting is a quiet, lightly built-up stretch of Rochester, with bare winter trees, snow-covered lawns, a wooden utility pole, and houses in the distance. The names \'Ross\' and \'Trump\' are written on the reverse, possibly identifying the family who owned the car. This is a desirable early automobilia image from the estate of a vintage automobile photo and postcard collector. It also documents women motorists in the brass era, when electric cars were marketed largely to women.
