Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914-1917) aimed to achieve the first land crossing of Antarctica, but instead became a legendary tale of survival after their ship, the Endurance, was trapped and crushed by pack ice in the Weddell Sea. Miraculously, all 28 men survived the ordeal through remarkable leadership, drifting ice camps, an 800-mile open-boat journey across a stormy ocean, and a final rescue.
