$799.99

I sincerely appreciate the thousands of buyers I have enjoyed doing business with more than 25 years and over 11,000 transactions.DATED 1944 WWII US ARMY AIR FORCE TYPE A-11 24-HOUR ELGIN 17 JEWELS RUNS. The back of the watch is marked as below:A.F. U.S. ArmyType A-11Spec. No. 94-27834-BSer. No. AF44-24057MFR's. Part No. 2114Ord. No. W30-053ac-1321ElginThe inside is marked Bulova Watch. The mismatch between Elgin and Bulova was common during the war. Bulova was an authorized producer of Type A-11 watches. The 10BNCH is the Bulova caliber number for a manual-wind, center-seconds, hacking movement used in U.S. military watches. The "H" refers to the hacking arrangement--the mechanism that stops the seconds hand when setting the watch so several aircrew members could synchronize their watches. The letters are generally interpreted as BN = the base movement family, C = center/sweep seconds, and H = hack. "Hack" means that when you pull the crown out to set the time, the movement stops so the seconds hand can be synchronized precisely — an important military feature. The details of the watch have the dial, hands, crown, and overall case configuration proper A-11 military appearance. The black dial and highly legible white markings match the specification and documented examples. The buckle is khaki plastic which was made during the war. The band is in mint condition, with no damage, soiling, or stains. Pilots and navigators wore these 24-hour watches during the war. No scratches on the face glass. Very minor scratches on the round lugs. This 24-hour watch is hard to find, especially in this condition. The watch runs, but I can't guarantee that it keeps perfect time. This watch has been kept in a glass case. Please review the pictures carefully, as they are also part of the description. This is listed by an experienced seller and not an AI listing.Sweetheart jewelry and Victory pins were for sweethearts, moms, sisters, and loved ones serving in World War I and II. Mothers wore blue star pins. Each blue star represented the number of children serving in the war. Gold star pins were worn by mothers for each son who died in the war. Efficiency pins were given to employees who produced the equipment and supplies needed during the war. Sweetheart jewelry was very popular during the wars and remains popular among male and female collectors today. The hacking mechanism works correctly, and the watch keeps correct time. However due to the age of the watch I can't guarantee that it will work when purchased. The buckle is khaki plastic, which was made during the war. The band is in mint condition, with no damage, soiling, or stains. Pilots and navigators wore these 24-hour watches during the war. No scratches on the glass face.
