GEM! Cypraea helvola f. sumbaensis #5 20.8mm GORGEOUSBEAUTY from Indonesia.
. Found in 6 feet of water under rubble at Lombok Island, Indonesia, 2024,
. There is something about finding acypraea helvolaundera small piece of dead coral that just takes your breath away. The shellseems to glow in the water, angels begin to sing, and before you know it,you\'re singing too! Almost all of the hevolas I\'ve collected in Hawaiiwere found in that way, just sitting there in 12 inches of water under a smallrock, at a place I could only get to at low tide. My favorite spotwasa large slab of dead coral at Sandy Beach that was a pain to lift up(and often exciting, since moray eelsalsoliked to hide underthe same large slab) but checking under that slab was almost always worth theeffort---helvolas, maculiferas, isabellas, monetas, pennaceusconesin the sand and more were all found under that same slab over theyears.
. Thisshell however, was found in a place that just recently has been producing some terrific shells---Indonesia. I mean, when I read about the greatshells found there, it reminds me of Fort Kam reef on Oahu, a wonderful place that everyoneelsegot to go collecting at but me! Anyhow, as the photos show, this glossy beauty is a gorgeous GEM that will lookterrificsittingon your shelf!
The perfect shell for a first-rate collection.
As for normal disclaimers, we do the best we can with photos, butcolor is tricky, especially since cell phone cameras automatically lean towardsflesh-tone coloring, (that\'s why so many of the photos of shells on showup with more orange than is really there, the camera changes the color, anddamm if I can figure out how to stop that from happening, but I try, honest!
As for response, as your know, sellers live and die by theresponse you leaved, (please leave fives!) so if you have a problem, just letme know! After all, I\'m retired, and all messages go directly to myphone, so unless I\'m out shell collecting I will get back to you pronto-like!
Shell collecting! Now there\'s a phrase that brings smiles toyour eyes, doesn\'t it!
Anyhow, if you have read this far, you have my apologies and bestwishes from those of us at IslandShells323. And don\'t forget,
Home is where your collection is!
