BIG! Conus Victor f. abbai #31 53.2mm,Poppe and Tagaro 2011,GORGEOUSRARE BEAUTY from Indonesia. Found live by a diver at night in 5-10 feet of water in the sand, Solor Island, Indonesia. There are two new sub-species of the victor cone, and of the two, this one is by far the rarest---which has to do with the shell being found in only one location. The victor cone was only found on one island in Indonesia, (Lembata), but sub-species of the cone are now being found on the even more remote islands of the region, and apparently, each island has produced its own special version of the victor cone, and as you might imagine, the new discoveries are creating quite a bit of excitement!. And apparently, the location of the abbai sub-species produces very few shells, very few indeed.. And this shell, abig beauty(check out the size comparison photos, that is averynice sized victor cone next to this one---44mm---yet it looks dinky next to this baby!)witha perfect apex, smooth, glossy body, magnificentpattern and delicate lip, is averynear-GEM, a golden beauty that will have a special place in any collection, a terrificone-of-a-kind,big, rarebeauty that willlookawesomesitting on your shelf! The ultra-perfect shell for a first-class collection.
As for normal disclaimers, we do the best we can with photos, but color is tricky, especially since cell phone cameras automatically lean towards flesh-tone coloring, (that's why so many of the photos of shells on show up with more orange than is really there, the camera changes the color, and damm if I can figure out how to stop that from happening, but I try, honest! As for response, as your know, sellers live and die by the response you leaved, (please leave fives!) so if you have a problem, just let me know! After all, I'm retired, and all messages go directly to my phone, so unless I'm out shell collecting I will get back to you pronto-like!Shell collecting! Now there's a phrase that brings smiles to your eyes, doesn't it!Anyhow, if you have read this far, you have my apologies and best wishes from those of us at IslandShells323. And don't forget,Home is where your collection is!
