ULTRA! Conus Bengalensis #10 105.5mm GORGEOUS NEAR-GEM from Myanmar.. Collected off trawling in 100 meters of water on a muddy bottom, Mergul Island, Myanmar, (formally Burma) 2020. The bengalensis cone is another one of those shells that was super rare back in the 60's. In fact, so few specimens were known, the shell was not even listed in the 1967 edition of the Van Nostrand catalog, because one wasnevergoing to be available for sale, and yet today I have more than a dozen sitting on my shelf, huh. And again, it is another one of those shells collected from a muddy bottom, and as I have mentioned before, the number of fantastic, once rare shells that have been found in the mud is truly amazing---and a great break for shell collectors everywhere!. And this shell, with a hard to find,microscopicnick at the base of its lip, is as the photos show, a fabulousgolden beauty, with vivid color, an intact spire,agreat lip, and flawless, smooth body, a gorgeous, rare,verynear-GEM that will look terrific sitting on your shelf!
