Mr. Gould retired on December 25, 1977. This daily is from September 26, 1977, just 3 months before his retirement. He inscribed and autographed it and sent it to my friend in January 1978. I purchased it from my friend in the early 1980’s. I have blurred my friends’ name for the listing, the full inscription and name is still on the art. I didn’t think he would want his full name shown, I know I wouldn’t.
The artwork measures 23’ x 7’. It is a two panel strip with the first panel being a recap of Sundays’ strip. Mr. Gould, rather than redraw the previous day’s strip, pasted a photostat of his Sunday art in the panel. Hey, he was nearing retirement, give him a break. The second panel has a great side shot of Tracy with a moustache. Not something you see every day. The inscription has a nice Gould autograph and is dated. The strip is in excellent condition with slight toning from age. Please see photos for condition.
