Renault Basile Beauvais was a prominent gun-maker in St Loius, Missouri and he and briother Jules, also a gunsmith were active Pro-Secessionists during the War, and were named by Federal authorities as members of the secret \"Order of American Knights\", a pro-secession group and the pair were arrested. An Original Civil War General Order issued at HQ\" Department of the Missouri, St Louis, Mo \" June 2nd, 1864 charging them with disloyalty and selling\" guns caps and powder\" and , in May, 1864 conspired to \"supply rebel enemies of the United States with munitions of war\" including 2 Army Revolvers and 6,000 percussion caps and also delivering to \"rebels in army with the Southern Confederacy\" pistols, powder caps and other munitions of war \", and made \"speeches, innuendos and threats, publicly and privately in favor of the rebellion and against the government of the United States\". The Military Commission presided over by General S.A. Meredith finds them Not Guilty of the charges, releasing R. Beauvois from custody upon taking the Oath and paying $2,000 Bond but holding John Beauvois in custody for further orders\". 2pp 8 x 5\" ptd. age stains, edge wear, 2 punch holes on left margin , Overall VG Condition. I believe the order may be Incomplete although I have not seen another such order for comparison. .
