This is a highly collectible Pre-1982 Castello Natural Vergin KK 15 in excellent condition. While Castello designates the #15 as a \"Large Billiard or Pot\", this particular pipe leans strongly into the Pot category due to its wide, and relatively shallow chamber (see dimensions below). This piece hails from the revered Carlo Scotti era of Castello production. It features the highly sought-after, uppercase\"KK\" stamp in a straight line, indicating its pre-1982 pedigree before Castello transitioned to the lowercase \'k\' in an oval circle. As a Natural Vergin finish, this pipe was crafted from completely unstained, bare briar. It has begun to develop a beautiful, light honey-amber patina from handling over the decades, exactly as intended by the factory.Condition & Rim Note:This pipe is in excellent, lightly smoked estate condition with crisp, sharp nomenclature stamps.
- The Bowl/Rim: The rim has been carefully and gently surface-cleaned of organic tobacco tars. There is a remaining area of dark coloration on a portion of the rim. It appears to be deep patina/minor flame darkening embedded into the grain. In order to preserve the original geometry, flat profile, and pristine bare-briar nature of this Castello, I have chosen to leave this area entirely as-is. It is smooth to the touch, and I have refrained from any aggressive sanding, fuming, or topping. Please see the photo section for a direct, close-up view.
- The Stem/Shank: Features the iconic hand-cut Lucite stem with the rhinestone inset. It is free from bite marks/chatter and fits snugly into the mortise. I have cleaned and sanitized the stem and shank, making the pipe ready for immediate enjoyment.
- The Chamber: The chamber is solid with healthy, smooth walls and no structural issues, ready to pack with your favorite blend.
Straight out of Castello\'s \"Golden Era\" of pipe making history and into your own private collection.
