Casablanca (Warner Bros., 1942)

The production of the film "Casablanca" wascarried out by Warner Bros studio, co-founded by Albert Warner. Albert Warner (born July 23, 1884 inKrasnosielc, died November 26, 1967 in Miami Beach) – American filmmaker ofJewish origin, born in Poland, one of the co-founders of the Warner Bros. filmstudio.

In the film "Casablanca," the Rick's Cafe decorwas entirely studio set design, created by the Warner Bros. production designdepartment.

The interior of Rick's Cafe in "Casablanca" was ablend of authentic Moroccan inspiration and typical Hollywood styling. WarnerBros. set designers sought to create an "exotic atmosphere."Alongside Moroccan elements, there were Art Deco, French colonial style, andMiddle Eastern decorations from other regions.

Cinema Mercantile Co., one of the oldest and largestsuppliers of film and TV set decorations, supplied items to Warner Bros.Studios during the production of Casablanca.

George James Hopkins, who was responsible for the setdecorations on the film "Casablanca," was responsible for specificelements such as furniture, lamps, carpets, and other decorative props.

However, not all of his props made it directly to the filmset. Some were included in the concept, but were later modified. Apparently thefirst original concept included larger rooms and more decorations. Despiteeverything, the design elements were very interesting.

This lamp is one of those decorations that did not appear inthe film so that it was taken into account in the first original concept. Thisis a vintage openwork floor lamp that was part of the original interior designconcept for Rick's Cafe in one of the greatest American films of all time,Casablanca.
