It depicts a yellow pencil and the brand's signature crossed hammer logo (symbolizing the industrial heritage of the Nuremberg region). Purpose: This pencil case was originally intended to hold and sell a set of 12 Apollo series copying (chemical) or graphite pencils, such as the popular model #1255. Manufacturer: Johann Faber was founded by Johann Faber in 1879 in Stein, Germany, after he left the family business, A.W. Faber (now known as Faber-Castell). In the first half of the 20th century, the brand was fully acquired and merged with the main Faber-Castell brand. Today, these tin boxes are collectibles for lovers of antique stationery and vintage advertising.
