Antique c1880–1900 No. 7 Gate Mark Cast Iron Skillet Pan Fancy Handle Heat Ring:
$165.00

Light in the hand and full of early foundry character, this antique No. 7 cast iron skillet has a long, pointed loop handle, a continuous heat ring, and a prominent gate mark across its underside.

The raised slash on the bottom is a gate scar, left by the channel through which molten iron entered the mold. Nearby is a small mark that appears to astylized A.

At just 2.2 pounds, the pan is unusually light for its 9-inch width. Its shallow 7/8-inch height gives it a low, practical profile for frying or griddle-style cooking. The five-inch handle ends in an elongated hanging opening and has a No. 7 marking, as reported. These details make it as appealing to display as it is to use.

Picture a busy late 19th-century kitchen: a pan like this could move from stove to table for eggs, bacon, pancakes, or a quick supper. Its gate scar records part of the casting process that made an everyday household tool.

Measurements: 9 inches wide; approximately 7/8 inch tall; 5-inch handle; 2.2 pounds.

Condition: Well seasoned. On a glass surface, the skillet has a faint wobble that takes approximately one business card to remedy. Please review the photos for the casting texture, base mark, and gate scar.
