Antique Victorian-era photograph album containing approximately 60 original studio portraits, primarily cabinet-card and carte-de-visite style photographs dating from the late 19th century.Looking through the album in hand, it contains portraits of men, women, children, infants, and family members dressed in period clothing. The photographs are mounted individually within decorative album pages, with many presented in oval openings.Several photographs retain identifiable photographer or studio markings, including an Ingraham Bros. studio card. Ingraham Bros. operated photographic studios during the latter half of the 19th century. The album itself has a faded red/burgundy cloth-covered exterior with a decorative metal shield on the front and metal closure hardware along the edge. The interior title page is simply marked “Album” with ornate Victorian decoration. The collection appears to have remained together for many years and offers an interesting snapshot of an unidentified late-19th-century family or extended social group.I have not removed the photographs from the album to inspect every reverse, so additional photographer names, handwritten identifications, dates, or locations may be present behind the mounted images.
