Antique Victorian/Edwardian Equestrian Novelty Sword Crop – Hoof & Horseshoe Horn Handle. Description:For your consideration is a remarkable, authentic antique equestrian sword-crop (dagger crop/gadget cane) dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (circa 1880–1910). This highly collectible piece combines classic premium equestrian styling with a hidden self-defense mechanism popular for solo trail riders of the era.Key Features & Craftsmanship:Handle Motif: Exquisitely hand-carved natural animal horn sculpted into a literal "horse's hoof" form.Top End Cap: Features a solid white-metal/German-silver horseshoe plate hand-riveted to the horn core via three distinct, hand-peened flush rivets. The cutout beautifully reveals the dark horn underneath, mimicking the "frog" of a natural horse hoof. Includes its original leather lanyard/wrist loop. The Blade: A hidden, hand-forged carbon steel thrusting blade measuring approximately 11 3/4 inches long. The blade features a rigid diamond cross-section ending in a sharp needle point. The steel is mostly bright and clean with authentic, localized pitting/patina confined strictly to the collar junction near the horn handle. The Shaft: 16 1/4 inches,Fully wrapped in its original, beautifully preserved tightly-plaited brown leather braid, terminating in a classic wide leather keeper/flap at the base. The blade pulls firmly and seats securely into the shaft without wobbling. An exceptional, bench-made artisan example of Victorian novelty weaponry and equestrian history.Condition: Good antique condition. Leather is supple and intact; horn has few minor cracks and no delamination. Blade exhibits light age-related oxidation near the bolster but remains bright along its length. Please review all high-resolution photos for exact cosmetic details.Shipping: Will be packed with extreme care.
