13 1/2 inch hand carved old totem pole. Seven figures carved into this wonderful pole.
History;
This pole originated from a village site on Tongass Island which later became Fort Tongass. It was carved to honor the Chief of all Women, whom was a lady that drowned in the Nass River while going to visit a sick sister.
A carver was commissioned to carve this pole but first was told of all the stories about this woman. The pole represents these stories and heritage.
The pole was subsequently stolen in 1899 and moved to Seattle.
