HIGH STREET
PORTSMOUTHBelieved to date from the late Victorian to early Edwardian period, circa 1890–1905.The single fouled-anchor insignia appears consistent with a junior commissioned Royal Navy officer rank of the period. Because Royal Navy insignia regulations changed over time, the exact rank is not guaranteed and buyers are encouraged to make their own determination from the photographs.Condition: Very good antique condition for their age. The bullion, anchors and fittings retain an attractive original aged patina. There is expected age-related wear, tarnishing and discoloration, particularly to the leather backs. They have not been cleaned or polished. Please examine the photographs closely for condition.Included: The matching pair of epaulettes shown in the photographs. No original case is included.A handsome and increasingly difficult-to-find pair of original Royal Navy full-dress epaulettes by J. Gieve & Sons, suitable for a British naval, military, maritime or Victorian-era collection.
