ANTIQUE REAL PHOTO & VINTAGE POSTCARD COLLECTION
Offered here is a fascinating collection of genuine antique and vintage postcards, including early Real Photo Postcards (RPPCs), featuring people, travel, architecture, transportation, maritime subjects and scenic views.
This is an unusually interesting group with identifiable material from Sitka, Alaska; Portland, Oregon; and Southern California, along with several compelling early American scenes.
Highlights include:
- Sitka, Alaska real photo postcard showing the waterfront settlement beneath a dramatic mountain, identified on the image as \"Sitka Alaska\" and \"The Photo Shop, Sitka.\" The reverse retains a 1-cent stamp and 1931 Sitka, Alaska postmark.
- Early Ocean Beach / San Diego, California coastal postcard with dramatic rock formations and surf. The reverse carries a 1912 San Diego postmark, 1-cent stamp and handwritten correspondence mentioning Ocean Beach and San Diego.
- Outstanding early postcard showing horse-drawn wagons, multiple horses and rustic buildings – excellent transportation and Americana subject matter.
- Early postcard showing a large outdoor gathering with a crowd seated beneath mature trees.
- Period group postcard showing several well-dressed men posed in front of a grandstand or transportation-related setting.
- Early postcard depicting a substantial American residence with porch, bay windows and period architecture.
- Unusual maritime postcard showing the boat RED WING out of the water.
- Early woodland/outdoor postcard with handwritten identification on the reverse.
- Excellent period postcard of a woman posed outdoors with a parasol/umbrella. Reverse is marked \"CITY PARK GALLERY, at the Washington St. Entrance, PORTLAND, OREGON\" and bears a Calvert Minute Post Card marking.
