A beautifully preserved 19th-century block meerschaum tobacco pipe from the prestigious Colossus Pipe Factory (C.P.F.). Stamped inside the original case with the rare "C.P.F. BEST MAKE" oval gold emblem, this is a premium, pre-merger piece dating prior to 1898.
The pipe features a magnificent, intricately detailed figural carving of a Victorian lady lounging gracefully. The execution is master-class level, showcasing the folds of her long skirt, her bonnet, and an accompanying basket.
This pipe boasts a phenomenal, authentic honey-yellow and deep amber patina on the bowl and shank, but appears to have not been smoked. The stem appears to be crafted from genuine polished amber, showing an exquisite dark reddish-orange glow.
PLEASE NOTE ** The threads in the stem have stripped out.
Includes its original, custom-form-fitted leather-wrapped hard case. The interior features a plush, velvet-lined bed where the original gold maker's mark remains beautifully legible. The brass hinge and vintage push-button latch are completely intact.
* Notes: This is an authentic, century-plus-old antique. The meerschaum and stem show expected light signs of age and historical handling. The exterior leather on the case shows honest wear, fraying, and rubbing along the edges, consistent with its incredible age, adding to its historic charm.
