Antique L.Q.C. Wishart’s Pine Tree Tar Cordial medicine bottle in a beautiful deep emerald green glass, dating to the Civil War/Victorian era.Square form with beveled corners, applied collar mouth and strong embossed decoration. One panel features a detailed pine tree above the embossed date “1859,” with additional panels embossed “L.Q.C. WISHART’S” and “PINE TREE TAR CORDIAL PHILA.”The 1859 marking refers to the patent; surviving examples of these bottles date primarily from the second half of the 19th century.Measures approximately 9½ inches tall.CONDITION: Antique bottle with age-related surface wear, scratches, bubbles and manufacturing irregularities consistent with early blown glass. There is an internal stress crack/fracture visible in the base/lower portion of the bottle. It does not appear to extend completely through the glass. The bottle has been filled with water and holds water without leaking. Please examine all photographs carefully, particularly the close-up photographs of the base, as they are an important part of the condition description.
