Antique Japanese Imari Arita Porcelain Fish-Shaped or Sea Bream Platter, late Meiji Period, ca. 1890-1912
Thisbeautiful Japanese porcelain fish-shapedorsea bream platter hasextremely elegant and fine hand-painted decoration featuring the Imaripalette with underglaze blue and overglaze red, green, and goldenamels. The porcelain body has spines molded in relief on the fins andtail. In underglaze blue on the reverse, there are four hand-painted wave motifs, a simple key-fret pattern around the unglazed foot, and the commemorative mark of Ming Dynasty Emperor Wan-Li (1573-1619), all in underglazeblue. The Ming Dynasty mark is how the Japanese potters honored the inventive and extraordinary Ming-period porcelains.The piece appears to be in mint condition.

Condition: Mint condition. No cracks, chips or repairs. Shows no appreciable wearexcept to the bottom of the foot.
