Beautiful antique Japanese Kutani-style porcelain figure depicting a kneeling geisha/woman dressed in an ornate hand-painted kimono and holding a shallow bowl. This striking decorative piece features rich red, blue, green and gold coloring, detailed floral decoration, gilt accents, and raised moriage-style enamel work throughout the kimono. The figure has a graceful sculptural form with finely painted facial details and a traditional hairstyle. The shallow bowl has a small opening in the center and appears to have been intended for use as an incense burner or similar decorative vessel. The underside is unmarked and unglazed. It shows age-related wear, staining and surface patina consistent with an older piece. There is also some expected wear/rubbing to the painted and gilt decoration from age and use. Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the condition description.A beautiful and unusual display piece for collectors of Japanese porcelain, Kutani-style ceramics, Asian antiques, geisha figures, moriage porcelain, or elegant Asian-inspired décor.
