• Edition/Imprint: Octavo edition published by D. Rice & A.N. Hart, Philadelphia, 1855. Imprint is under the mat; attribution to the 1855 Rice & Hart issue is based on octavo format, paper behavior under UV, and hand-applied color.
• Size: frame approx. 21″ × 17½″; sight ~6″ × 10″ (octavo sheets are ~10½″ × 6½″ when unframed).
• Medium: hand-colored lithograph on 19th-century wove paper (dull and gray under UV; no modern optical brighteners).
• Marks: tiny penciled initials “MH” (and faint “D”) at the extreme lower margin possible pencil inventory marks
• Condition: bright color and clean sheet; recently re-matted and framed; not examined out of frame.
• Notes: Classic McKenney & Hall portrait after Charles Bird King from the important 19th-century series documenting Native leaders.
