Up for sale/sale is a beautiful, authentic antique Hutchinson-style soda or mineral water bottle from Bath, Maine. I estimate it’s manufacture back to the late 19th century (circa 1880s–1890s), this particular bottle features an incredibly crisp and deep slug-plate embossing. The front embossing reads “HARTLEB & CHELTRA\" “TRADE H&C MARK\" (within a decorative shield)\"BATH, ME.\" The bottle seems to have been blown in a rich, crisp aqua-green glass with a natural “whittle mark\" surface. It had character and seed bubbles throughout. It features a heavy, thick blob top finish originally intended for a Hutchinson style stopper or wire cork setup. The base is completely smooth and un-marked, typical for early regional New England glass houses.
Condition is very good to excellent with brilliant color clarity, in some light it seems aqua, sometimes green, sometimes blue. Seems to be a perfect bottle for collectors of Maine maritime history, local town merchants, or 19th-century utility glass. It will be wrapped securely in heavy bubble wrap and shipped in a sturdy box to ensure safe arrival.
