Beautiful antique filigree compact with a matching handle, [described as early French, circa early 1900s].
The octagonal case has pierced and embossed filigree work over the top, with a large square turquoise glass stone in the centre. Eight smaller round stones in turquoise and pale green with gold flecks are set around it. The slim filigree handle is decorated in the same style, with more small stones along its length. The handle is designed to hold a lipstick. The case opens to reveal a mirror and powder compartment. It has a darkened brass-tone patina consistent with its age.
