Antique Crescent Silverware covered wine cooler / ice bucket featuring an elegant urn-form body, fitted domed lid with decorative finial, substantial double handles, ornate shell-form mounts and detailed paw feet.
The piece retains its removable white interior liner and weighs approximately 4 lb 4.1 oz. It measures approximately 8 inches tall including the lid and finial, approximately 8 inches across the body, and approximately 10 inches across the handles.
The underside is clearly marked “Crescent” with the company’s distinctive three-symbol trademark. Crescent Silverware Manufacturing Co. was an American maker of silver-plated hollowware founded in New York in 1922.
This example retains substantial natural patina and has not been aggressively polished. A small section of the underside was polished only to make the maker’s mark clearly visible. The silverplate shows the expected tarnish, spotting, scratches and surface wear associated with an antique serving piece.
A substantial and highly decorative early 20th-century American silverplate piece suitable as a wine or champagne cooler, ice bucket, barware display or decorative serving piece.
