Antique Carl Gottbill Cast Iron Pouring Pot / Saucepan – Germany
Unusual antique cast iron pouring pot attributed to Carl Gottbill / Carl Gottbill sel. Erben of Mariahütte, Germany. The exterior bears the distinctive raised CG-style maker\'s mark associated with Carl Gottbill cast iron.
This is a particularly interesting early form featuring a long integral cast handle, deep round bowl and large pointed pouring spout. The underside retains a prominent casting/gate scar from the manufacturing process.
Carl Gottbill\'s historic Mariahütte ironworks has roots extending back into the 18th century and later developed into an important German iron foundry. This piece appears consistent with late 19th century production, although an exact production date for this particular pattern has not been confirmed.
