DESIGN & ANALYSIS
The bezel features a distinctive multi-lobed rosette or floral crown rising above the slender round hoop. The irregular sculpted form, hammered bronze surface, mineralized patina, and remaining burial accretions are consistent with the appearance of an ancient bronze artifact.
Floral and rosette motifs are associated with Crusader-period material culture throughout the Holy Land. Comparable floral crown designs have been reported from archaeological contexts in areas including Jerusalem, Acre, and rural Crusader sites.
HISTORICAL CONTEXT
During the Crusader period, floral and rosette motifs appeared in jewelry, ceramics, metalwork, and architectural decoration. These designs reflect the diverse artistic traditions present in the Latin Kingdom of Jerusalem, including influences inherited from earlier Byzantine and local traditions.
PROVENANCE & HANDLING
The ring was reportedly found in the Jerusalem/Holy Land region and was subsequently collected in the United Kingdom as part of a longstanding assemblage of Crusader and Holy Land artifacts formed in the late 20th century.
Cleaning was minimal and limited to removing loose soil. The remaining surface texture, mineralized patina, and age-related accretions have been preserved.
CONDITION
Stable condition with intact hoop. The rosette bezel remains fully formed, with visible age-softening around the individual lobes. Ancient patina is preserved throughout, along with expected signs of age and burial.
Please examine all photographs carefully for the exact condition, surface details, and size. The photographs are part of the description.
AUTHENTICITY / DOCUMENTATION
This item is presented as an authentic medieval artifact dating to the Crusader occupation of the Holy Land, with the attribution supported by the accompanying documentation and the stated typological and material analysis.
A Certificate of Authenticity is included. Please review the COA and all photographs before purchase.
IMPORTANT: This is an ancient artifact, not a modern reproduction. Due to the age and historical nature of the piece, minor imperfections, patina variations, mineral deposits, surface wear, and irregularities are expected.
Ring Size: Approximately US Size 2. Please verify measurements carefully before purchasing, as this is a very small ring and may be primarily of interest as a historical artifact/collectible rather than wearable jewelry.
