Tuareg Sahara Teapot, circa 1960 - 1980 – Mixed Pewter, Copper & Brass*
Exceptional handcrafted Tuareg teapot from the Sahara Desert region (Timbuktu area), dating to approximately 1960 -1980. This striking mixed-metal* - traditional nomadic metalworking, featuring apewter or tin-alloy bodywith characteristic soft silver-gray patina, richly adorned withcopper inlaysforming protective crescent moon, cross, and geometric motifs, plusbrass collar, handle, and spout fittingsin warm golden tones.
Artisan Craftsmanship:Artisans hammered, soldered, and engraved the decorative elements into the pewter form—a technique specific to Mauritanian and Malian Tuareg tribes—creating a functional yet ceremonial piece for tea rituals or display. Subtle wear and desert patina enhance its authenticity. Approximately 6.5" Tall. Good vintage condition with minor imperfections.
Authentic hand made teapot by a Tuareg craftsman. It's one of a kind.
I personally bought this from a man at his home in Timbuktu in 2001.
