Action Comics #1 (1976) Sleeping Bag Reprint – CGC 9.6
One of the most collectible Action Comics #1 reprints ever produced, in an exceptional CGC 9.6 grade!
This is the 1976 Action Comics #1 Sleeping Bag Reprint, a highly sought-after promotional edition and one of the earliest comic-book-sized reprints of the legendary Action Comics #1, the historic issue that introduced Superman.
Unlike the later, more common Action Comics #1 reprints, the 1976 Sleeping Bag edition has become a key issue for collectors of Action Comics #1 reprints and Superman memorabilia. It was distributed as part of a promotional campaign for G.H. Wood Ltd. and features the distinctive Sleeping Bag advertisement on the reverse cover, which gives this edition its nickname and makes it immediately recognizable to collectors.
The Sleeping Bag edition is particularly desirable among collectors because of its relative scarcity. Collector research has historically identified the 10-cent Sleeping Bag version as the scarcer of the two 1976 promotional editions.
Exceptional High-Grade Copy
The real attraction here is the CGC 9.6 grade.
You\'re not simply buying a scarce 1976 promotional reprint. You\'re getting a high-grade, professionally certified example of one of the most desirable early Action Comics #1 reprints.
A 9.6 is especially impressive for a comic that is now roughly 50 years old. High-grade examples of this edition are actively sought by collectors building complete Action Comics #1 reprint sets.
A Must-Have for the Serious Reprint Collector
If you\'re building a comprehensive collection of Action Comics #1 reprints, the 1976 Sleeping Bag edition is one of the books you want to have. It\'s not just another modern facsimile. It\'s an important piece of the history of how DC has continued to reproduce and celebrate the first appearance of Superman.
And in CGC 9.6, this copy is ready to display alongside the other key Action Comics #1 reprints in a serious collection.
Professionally graded. Historically significant. Highly collectible. And exceptionally well preserved.
