Extremely interesting antique Dr. Isaac Thompson’s Celebrated Eyewater bottle, retaining its original label and what appears to be the original liquid contents. This is an authentic piece of early American patent medicine and pharmaceutical history. Dr. Isaac Thompson’s Eyewater was a well-known 19th- and early-20th-century eye preparation. The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History has a more damaged example of Dr. Isaac Thompson’s Celebrated Eyewater in its permanent patent-medicine collection. The Smithsonian identifies its example as containing 1½ grains of opium and 10% alcohol. The bottle features the distinctive portrait of Dr. Isaac Thompson, along with an illustration of the Thompson facility in Troy, New York. The original printed label remains remarkably intact considering its age.The original contents are still present in the bottle. The bottle has NOT been opened or emptied. It is not completely full. Condition: Antique condition with substantial age-related wear. The paper label has areas of tearing, loss, staining, fading and deterioration. The bottle itself remains intact. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the description. This is being offered strictly as an antique collectible and historical pharmaceutical/patent-medicine artifact. The contents are extremely old and must not be consumed or used.An excellent addition to a collection of antique medicine bottles, patent medicine, pharmacy memorabilia, apothecary collectibles, medical history or early American advertising. Please note: Because this is an antique pharmaceutical preparation containing historically documented medicinal ingredients, it is being sold solely for its collectible and historical value. Buyer is responsible for complying with all applicable laws and policies regarding antique pharmaceutical collectibles.
