Altinay has been around for a long time and it is still a small, family owned business carving pipes out of Eskişehir, Turkey. It’s worth looking up as the city is the world capital for meerschaum. There are mines all around along with the best carvers in the world. Altinay was run from 1948 to 2018 by Necdet Altinay, followed by his son and grandson now having 3 generations in meerschaum carving. They had a niche of blending the traditional ornate, figural carvings with more classic, clean line shapes of the West.
I actually don’t get to find too many Altinay in unsmoked condition so this was fun to have arrive with its very nice display case. As for those, it’s probably the best constructed and looking case I’ve had.
This tall, large to extra large Bent Dublin has some beautifully done proportions and shaping. It stands out from many I’ve had. The 6 sided, paneled bowl smoothly transitions to a diamond shape shank with a large, wide end reminiscent of a reverse calabash a bit. A honey gold with amber stem adds more to the pipe and has a great push-pull tenon rather than screwing directly into meerschaum like some.
The wide rim has etchings all along the border that are there, but not so eye catching that they distract from the overall pipe. It almost reminds me of compass lines. On one facet of the shank is carved “Altinay”, the carver’s signature and the number 25, encircled. That’s pretty nice to me as so many meerschaum pipes have no markings at all making it hard to get info or know what it is if sold again.
It’s a great pipe! The coolest Altinay I’ve seen for sure. - Pete
Review all photos and dimensions carefully prior to purchasing. I take pride in my pipes and all are ready to smoke. - P

At a minimum, I do everything possible to make sure the pipe is at its best and packaged well. All pipes are carefully inspected, cleaned, gently buffed, waxed with Carnauba and the stems are hand polished and oiled as needed. For a decade, I’ve put all I have into these pipes, packaging and more. I really enjoy it and my fellow hobbyists.
BY PURCHASING A TOBACCO PIPE OR RELATED ITEMS FROM THIS STORE, YOU ATTEST / AFFIRM YOU ARE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD.
I do not have the time to reply to messages asking for deals. If I have room to move, I’ll list the pipe as “Or Best Offer.” Prices are firm. Please consider the large seller fees, taxes and equipment investments. If I don’t reply, no offense intended. It’s just time consuming to explain all this in each message. I appreciate your consideration.
