The bright green splash of the Union rifleman’s uniform:This 9th plate ambrotype with very fine focus is beautifully tinted on his epaulettes as well as his cuff’s, denoting the branch of service of the rifleman. He wears a U.S. buckle. Gazing at our bottom left (the sitter's lower right due to the reversed nature of an ambrotype) you can see his brass powder flask. The image is housed in a full thermoplastic case with a small chip at the opening.Unidentified photographer.
