This is a beautiful red renge stone from the shiro suita layer with large splashes of kiita coloring. Very fast cutting and the perfect hardness for crisp edges and able to leave a nice bright kasumi finish with lots of contrast. Doesn't self slurry with razor or normal knife pressure but will slurry with increased pressure or sharpening kanna but not get muddy, mostly pure black swarf. The lines are non-toxic and cannot be felt when honing but look like they will get a lot smaller once it's lapped anyway. Overall the stone is awesome to use. Fully sealed in lacquer.
Perfect stone for finishing/polishing knives and plane blades/woodworking tools or a great middle stone for razors. It can remove synthetic scratch patterns and take you all the way to your razor finisher, no need for a nagura progression.
Leaves gorgeous contrast between cladding and steel. Watetsu kanna pictured for example of contrast. Pic is using plain water, using slurry leaves a deep kasumi finish and even more contrast.
