Offered together are three antique wooden screw clamps, including two marked examples and one primitive, unmarked clamp.
Included in this lot:
1. R. Bliss No. 13 – Wooden handscrew clamp bearing the manufacturer’s marking.
2. Lionel Jr. No. 818 – Marked Lionel Jr., Successor to R. Bliss Mfg. Co., Medina, U.S.A.
3. Primitive wooden screw clamp – An unmarked example with a simple, sculptural form.
These traditional woodworking tools feature wooden jaws and screw mechanisms and reflect the ingenuity of early cabinetmakers and woodworkers.
The two marked clamps are particularly interesting for collectors of antique American woodworking tools. Their single-through-screw construction permits the jaws to angle relative to one another, making the clamps useful for holding tapered or irregularly shaped workpieces.
The group would make a useful addition to an antique tool collection, traditional workshop, or rustic industrial display.
Condition:
* Antique, previously used condition.
* Visible age-related wear, scratches, marks, and patina.
* The Lionel Jr. clamp has a visible crack in one jaw, as shown in the photographs.
* Please examine all photographs for details of condition and completeness.
Three clamps are included and sold together as one lot. Please review the photographs carefully; they form part of the description.
