1980 MYSTIC ORDER OF MUSES — “THE ROARING 20’S”
DAPHNE — QUEEN OF CARNIVAL 1960
HEAVY VINTAGE MARDI GRAS MEDALOutstanding vintage 1980 Mystic Order of Muses Mardi Gras medal featuring the classic “The Roaring 20’s” theme. The reverse commemorates Daphne as Queen of Carnival 1960, giving this piece an additional historical Carnival connection beyond its 1980 issue date. This is a substantial HEAVY copper/bronze-colored metal medal — not one of the ordinary lightweight aluminum Mardi Gras throw doubloons commonly encountered from this period. The combination of its Roaring Twenties theme, earlier Queen of Carnival commemoration and substantial heavy-metal construction makes this an especially interesting vintage Carnival collectible.Excellent crossover appeal for collectors of:• Mystic Order of Muses memorabilia
• Vintage Mardi Gras doubloons and medals
• “Roaring 20’s” and 1920s-themed collectibles
• Carnival royalty memorabilia
• Daphne / Queen of Carnival 1960 memorabilia
• Louisiana Carnival history
• Vintage exonumia
• Tokens, medals and medallions
• Gulf Coast Mardi Gras collectibles
• 1980 Mardi Gras memorabiliaDating to 1980, this medal is more than four decades old and retains vintage surface character consistent with its age and storage. Please examine all photographs carefully for exact condition, coloration and surface details.I have intentionally left this piece uncleaned to preserve its original vintage surface, patina and character. The buyer may clean or polish it if desired.Metal composition has NOT been tested. It is being sold as a heavy copper/bronze-colored Mardi Gras medal, with no representation that it contains any precious metal.A distinctive vintage Carnival medal combining the Mystic Order of Muses, “The Roaring 20’s” theme and a commemoration of Daphne, Queen of Carnival 1960.
