Original vintage Walt Disney hand-painted production animation cels featuring Jiminy Cricket and Professor Owl, presented together in their period mat.The reverse retains the original gold INA Spotlight / Disneyland label, which states that this is an original hand-painted celluloid drawing actually used in a Walt Disney production and was released exclusively by Disneyland for the INA Spotlight promotion, September 1–November 30, 1959.A remarkably similar Jiminy Cricket/Professor Owl pair was documented by Van Eaton Galleries. Van Eaton identifies Professor Owl as being from the March 27, 1959 Walt Disney Presents episode “Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom,” with Jiminy Cricket from one of his television appearances. Condition: Vintage condition with age-related wear. Professor Owl has substantial cracking/crazing and areas of lifting/loss to the painted surface, particularly in the white areas. Jiminy Cricket is considerably better preserved. The cel surface has scratches/marks, and the original mat shows staining, discoloration, edge wear and handling wear. Please examine all photographs closely. The original 1959 INA Spotlight label remains on the reverse.Sold as found. No cleaning or restoration has been attempted.A wonderful piece of early Disneyland/Disney animation history with excellent documented 1959 provenance.
