Original Vintage 1950s Fresno Hotel Restaurant Menu Van Ness Tulare Kern Street Fresno California
Hotel Fresno opened in 1912 at 1241–1263 Broadway at Merced Street in downtown Fresno, its grand-opening gala held January 8, 1913. Designed by architect Edward T. Foulkes at a cost near half a million dollars, the seven-story fireproof reinforced-concrete building was Fresno\'s first true high-rise, its central atrium court adapted from San Francisco\'s Palace Hotel. For decades the city\'s premier downtown hotel, operated by the Fresno Hotel Association, it remains the oldest surviving hotel in the city, prized for its Neoclassical/Beaux-Arts design and Palace Hotel-inspired crystal-court lobby. It closed in 1983 and sat vacant roughly 41 years; listed on the National Register of Historic Places on September 13, 2018, the building was rehabilitated into affordable housing and reopened in 2024 with about 79–80 apartments, no longer operating as a hotel.
It measures 11.5\" x 9.25\" closed and 18.5\" x 11.5\" open
