1945 LiCoHi yearbook from Litchfield Community High School, District 152A, Litchfield, Illinois.
Published by the Senior Class of 1945, this is Volume 20 of The LiCoHi and a wonderful snapshot of American high school life during the final year of World War II.
Inside are senior portraits, faculty, clubs and organizations, athletics, Future Farmers of America, school activities, May Queen and court, candid student photographs, local advertising and more.
Especially interesting are the many period images that capture everyday life in 1945 — students with automobiles, wartime-era fashions and hairstyles, sports, school activities, and a wonderful candid photograph of a young sailor sitting behind the wheel of a car.
The yearbook also includes a portrait of Lt. (j.g.) M. R. Holmes in U.S. Navy uniform, another tangible connection to the wartime period.
Local advertising provides an additional piece of Litchfield history, including businesses such as The Fair Store, Nold\'s Drug Store/The Rexall Store, Union Bus Depot, Kroger Grocery & Baking Co., Silver Needle Tailor Shop and other local merchants and professionals.
A terrific piece of Illinois local history and WWII-era Americana, with appeal to collectors of vintage yearbooks, genealogy, Litchfield history, 1940s photography, military-era material and social history.
No autographs or inscriptions noted.
