1942 MISSISSIPPIpassenger license plate, from HINDS COUNTY (Jackson, Clinton, Byram, Terry, Raymond, Pocahontas, Utica, Bolton, Edwards, Learned, Cayuga, etc.), the capital county, in central MS. Steel plate uses a royal blue base with golden yellow embossed lettering and rims. 100% original paint, with NO touch-ups.MISSISSIPPI is a notoriously TOUGH STATE for finding pre-1960 original tags, and 1942 tends to be a VERY DIFFICULT year to find, in part because many 1941 and 1942 original MS tags were later overstamped for 1943, '44, and '45 issues due to metal conservation during World War II.(Mississippi was one of the very few states that continued to issue new steel auto tags every year during the war instead of using renewal tabs or alternative materials like fiberboard.) 1942 was not only the first full calendar year that the US fought in World War II, but the last year any new cars were produced in the US as automakers retooled their factories for armaments production until 1946.Sold by a native Jacksonian and longtime Jackson resident, and guaranteed authentic.
Plate is STRAIGHT and lies completelyFLAT, with NO tears to metal and NO bends.Metal and paint areSOLID and STRONG, with still NICE GLOSS.Some scratches, dents near bolt holes from original bracket, and light rust in spots, evidence of real age/wear. Two tiny extra nail holes, one at each bottom corner, difficult to see. EXCELLENT COLOR CONTRAST and makes for a BRILLIANT DISPLAY.Could easily be mounted on wall or other flat surface. Please, check out all the attached photos for details!
Plate is PERFECT for any Magnolia State resident or native, World War II-era paraphernalia collector or family of a WW2 vet, anybody outfitting a bar/lounge/roadhouse, or anyone celebrating a birthday or anniversary or other special occasion from 1942, and itMAKES A GREAT GIFT!A SUPERB, genuine piece of Deep South classic-car-era auto memorabilia, anda full 75 years old!
